Mildew is a fungal disease caused by the growth of fungal hyphae in plant tissues, wood, leather, paper, etc. Mildew penetrates the tissues of leaves, stems and fruits. In agriculture, it usually damages potato, grape, tobacco and cucurbit crops.
It requires certain climatic conditions for its reproduction, although it can remain dormant for a long period of time before becoming active. The main source of infection is usually plant debris where the disease can lodge and then be spread by external agents such as the wind, animals or man himself.
